The Bone Mother is a Feminine (or Yin) expression of the Saturn archetype. She is the Crone aspect in the Feminine life cycle of Maiden-Mother-Crone. The Triple Goddess.
We know Saturn as Cronos, or Father Time, an expression of Saturn energy. Whilst the planets are not gendered, they express themselves tonally across a broad spectrum that reflect both Yin (receptive, nocturnal) & Yang (active, diurnal) qualities.
Bone Mother Saturn often appears in mythic traditions as a Winter goddess. In Gaelic culture She is the Cailleach - meaning “veiled one”. She is a Winter goddess & Wise Woman. In Eastern Europe She is Baba Yaga. This is the fierce face of the goddess but also a life-bringer. Bone Mother is keeper of the deep cycles of Time and Life itself. She’s also a guardian & protector of the land, animals & young children.
We encounter Bone Mother during intense times of death and rebirth in our lives. Through facing our fears, & through challenges we encounter, Bone Mother can help guide us to deeper wisdom, sovereignty & renewal. She is stern yet supportive, helping us create structure & greater resilience.
